One of the major attractions of the city of Hyderabad is Charminar. Charminar has earned a huge popularity, due to this it is also one of the major tourist attractions. It is the most prominent landmark and architectural icons in the heart of Hyderabad. It is also listed among the most recognized structures of India.Charminar was built by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah the 5th Sultan of Qutb Shahi Dynasty in the year 1591 CE. This architectural structure of Hyderabad is square in shape with four tall pillars or minars built around it. Thus, the name Charminar came into the existence. It is a belief that the four minarets stand for four Khalifa of Islamic regions.
This beautiful monument can be seen on the coins of Hyderabad. This gold half Ashrafi was issued by Mir Usman Ali Khan. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with the image of ‘Charminar’ with a short initial ‘Ain’ and Hijri Date 1357 and the regnal year '29'. The reverse of the coin depicts name, the title of the king.
