They ruled from Vatapi and Vengi. The Chalukyas have issued various coins. One of the Gold Pagoda weighing around 3.78 g has been sold for INR 1,10,000. It was issued during 597-610 AD. This coin is very unique as its obverse depicts the early temple of Dravadian style which only flourished in the Southern parts India. Also, most of the dynasties portrayed various motifs like animals, birds, flowers, deities, etc on their coins. The Chalukyas of Badami (Vatapi) took a major step in depiction a temple on their coin.
