Jimi Hendrix – born as Johnny Hendrix was a professional American musician. He was one of the most influential electric guitarists of his times and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. During his short career he received most notable awards including “Pop Musician of the Year”, “the Performer of the Year”, “the World Top Musician of 1969” and “the Rock Guitarist of the Year”.In order to commemorate his contribution to music a stamp honouring Jimi Hendrix was issued in 2014, in the Music Icons commemorative series. This colourful fancy stamp features Jimi Hendrix’s portrait, holding a Guitar.
