Gwalior Fort located in Madhya Pradesh is a fort of marvel. The fort is believed to exist from 10th Century CE. The blend of sandstone and the blue lapis lazuli makes it more attractive and it still sits shining atop a rocky hill.
Did you know that the second oldest record of ‘zero’ is found here?
The present-day structure consists of two main palaces Gujari Mahal and Man Mandir. The fort also has Jain and Hindu temples and water tanks.
The Gurjari Mahal is now converted into an Archaeological Museum housing rare artefacts. The fort was ruled by many rulers of various dynasties. Rani Lakshmi Bai and Tatya Tope fought against British from here.
To commemorate this fort, India Post issued a stamp having a face value of 50 Paisa. If you ever go to Madhya Pradesh, we recommend you to visit and experience this live beauty with your own eyes!
