This gold coin of Goa was issued during the reign of King Joseph I in 1766 AD. It was sold for INR 1,30,000.King Joseph I was known as ‘The Reformer’. His reign saw the invasion of Franco-Spanish which was the most difficult event of his time.
This coin was issued when Goa was under the control of Portuguese. The obverse of this coin depicts long cross, it divides the value into two syllabi within the dotted border. The reverse of this coin depicts a crowned arm within the dotted border.
This coin was sold by Classical Numismatic Gallery on 12th August 2017 in Ahmadabad.
