Gold Mohur of Muhammad Shah Sold for INR 1,20,000

Muhammad Shah was the grandson of Bahadur Shah and son of Jahan Shah. He sat on the Mughal throne when he was 17 years old in the year 1719 and ruled it till 1748 with the help of Sayyid brothers. Later on, he got rid with the Sayyid brothers with the help of Asaf Jah I. He is often referred as ‘Muhammad Shah Rangila’. He died in the year 1748 and was succeeded by his only son Ahmad Shah.This gold mohur was issued by him in the AH 1156 during the 26th year of his reign and was sold for INR 1, 20,000. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Muhammad Shah; with the year 1156’ and reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Sana 26; Julus Maimanat Manus, Mint Name ‘Dar-ul-Sultanate Lahore.
