Chalukyan Pagoda sold for 25,000!

We are fond of gold since olden times and the ruling kings in ancient and medieval period issued lots of gold coins. The Western Chalukya was one of them. They ruled most of the western Deccan (South India) between the 10th and 12th centuries. They ruled from their capital city Kalyani so they are popularly known as Chalukyas of Kalyani.The given Gold Pagoda is one of them, weighing around 3.5 grams. The obverse of the coin depicts a Garuda running with upraised right hand. Garuda is a bird-like creature which is a vahana of Lord Vishnu. The reverse has a three line legend in Kanarese. This tiny GOLD piece was sold for INR 25,000 in Todywalla Auctions on 16th September 2017.
