Clydesdale Bank Releases New Scotish £10 Banknotes
2017-09-22 Fri
Clydesdale Bank released Scottish £10 plastic note featuring Robert Burns on the obverse and a landscape of Edinburgh's Old and New Towns on the reverse. A £5 plastic note was issued last year. The new note is smaller than its earlier versions. New security features include an outline of Scotland in a "shiny ink" on a transparent window. The older £10 Clydesdale note will remain legal tender.Officials claim that the new polymer notes are more durable and secure than normal paper notes. It is also a milestone for Clydesdale Bank. The plastic notes are water resistant and won’t tear easily. They are also more environmentally friendly when it comes to production.
The bank has been producing notes since 1838. It has evolved with evolving technology and modern-day needs. The notes are in tiered sizes. They have bold numerals, raised print and different colours to help the visually impaired identify denominations.
