Muhammad Shah was the grandson of Bahadur Shah. With the help of the Sayyid brothers, at the age of 17, Muhammad Shah sat on the Mughal throne in the year 1719 and ruled it till 1748. Later he got rid of the Sayyid brothers with the help of Asaf Jah I. Later, Sayyid Hussain Ali Khan was murdered at Fatehpur Sikri and Hassan Ali Khan Barha was fatally poisoned in the year 1722. Muhammad Shah often referred as ‘Muhammad Shah Rangila’.This gold mohur was sold for INR 55, 200 at Todywalla Auction held in Ahmedabad on 2nd March 2013. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king and reverse of the coin is inscribed as Julus Maimanat Manus Sanah 19 with the mint name Surat.
