A new Ultra High relief Proof 2017 1-ounce .999 fine silver dollar from Niue, issued by Downies, celebrates the 75th anniversary of the first fighter aircraft to be designed and constructed in Australia - the CAC Boomerang,The Royal Australian Air Force did not have a fighter aircraft to defend the Japanese strikes on the Allied forces in December 1941. The Boomerang was produced locally as a result. The aircraft is an interceptor with a high climb rate and maneuverability. It also used the most powerful engine available and made effective strikes in New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and Borneo.
The 31.1 grams coin has a mintage limit of 750 pieces and comes with a numbered certificate. It can be purchased for $149 AUS.
