There have been reports that a caretaker of a primary school named Warkworth Church of England Primary School in Northumberland, England, unearthed a stash of Medieval-era silver coins under the school's playground. The school is located near a medieval castle, which was once owned by a powerful noble family called House of Percy. Newcastle auctioneers Anderson & Garland auctioned 66 coins on 13th September which were valued and authenticated by The British Museum.

128 forged silver coins from the 15th and early 16th centuries were found. The coins belonged to a transition period in England from the Medieval era to the Renaissance era. The hoard includes Groat and half-groat coins issued under the reign of King Edward IV and King Henry VII. Nine coins were issued under the regime of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy during the 1460s. The coin hoard has a net worth of £11,000. Experts believe that the owner might have hidden the coins during Scottish incursions.
