Story Behind the Unique Designs of Norway’s Banknotes

Latest banknotes of Norway feature a stylish pixelated design. A Coronado High School graduate named Elaine Molinar is a partner and MD at international architecture firm Snohetta. The company won a competition that was held to finalise designs for Norwegian kroner notes in 2014. New notes were circulated in last May. The company is also known for undertaking several challenging projects in the field of Architecture around the world. It has also bagged several esteemed awards in the field of architecture. Snohetta won the note design competition by defeating eight other teams.The theme for the design was supposed to highlight the country’s sea-based history and economy. The chosen design features abstract digitized images that become less pixelated as the denomination increases. Something very unique and bold for a national bank note to depict!
