Author of ‘The One-Cent Magenta’ James Barron to Deliver Lecture

Author of The One-Cent Magenta: Inside the Quest to Own the Most Valuable Stamp in the World, James Barron will give the 14th Maynard Sundman lecture called “James Barron The One-Cent Magenta,” for one hour on 21st September at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C.He is going to talk about unique British Guiana 1856 1¢ Magenta, which sold for $9.48 million in June 2014 at a New York City auction. He is also going to touch upon global history and immense wealth, and of the human desire to collect.
Those attending the lecture can also take a look at the stamp, which will be showcased at the museum until November 2017. Barron will also be a part of History After Hours that will be conducted on 21st September. His book can be purchased at the Museum Store.
