18 silver coins from the 17th century were found in a defensive tower at Czluchów Castle, Poland. Experts believe that the coins were minted for foreign trade and could have been hidden during the war period which is called as Deluge, between 1655 and 1657.In this war, the castle was captured by Sweden. The Czluchów castle men fought bravely against the Swedes for many months. When the surrounding lake fortress froze in the winter of 1655-56, the castle was captured.
More coins were found near a cemetery in the beginning of the twentieth century. Experts state that the latest hoard was probably a part of the same collection.
