SBP Releases Fresh Banknotes Worth Rs168 Billion on Eid

The State Bank of Pakistan Banking Services Corporation made some special arrangements to meet the increasing demand for fresh banknotes on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha 2017. The basic idea was to include maximum stakeholders including the general public.New banknotes of Rs. 168 billion were released this time while the number was Rs.161 billion last year on the same occasion. Lower denomination notes (up to Rs.100) worth Rs. 8 billion were released along with higher denomination banknotes (Rs.500 and above) worth Rs. 160 billion. The higher denomination notes would be used for heavy payments & ATM needs of commercial banks.
All 16 field Offices of the SBP BSC released the notes to the general public before the festival. Commercial banks were also issued lower denomination fresh bank notes worth Rs. 7 billion.
