Lahore was the part of Mughal Empire from 1524 to 1752. It was the historic capital of Punjab and one of the most important cities in the Mughal Empire. During the period of Mughal Empire, it reached the peak of architectural glory. Mughal Emperor lived in Lahore for a long period. Emperor Akbar built a fort there.Lahore was also one of the richest mints of Akbar, which issued coin is all three metals: - gold, silver, and copper on a regular basis.
This gold mohur was minted in Lahore during the 48th year of his reign, during the month Farvardin. The obverse of this coin inscribed with ‘Allahu Akbar Jale Jallaluhu’. And the reverse of the coin is inscribed with ‘Farwardin ilahi Zarb Lahore’.
