Exciting news for coin collectors from around the world! An extremely rare set of Edward VIII fantasy crowns which were presented to a key confidant of the king who guided him through the abdication crisis of 1936, is to steal the show at the Dix Noonan Webb’s March 21 auction in London.

In 1954, London coin dealer Geoffrey Hearn issued the set of coins to commemorate Edward’s reign. They are contained in a presentation case given to the former king’s private solicitor, Sir George Allen.

The set of crowns comprises of three gold and three silver coins having similar designs referencing Australia, Bermuda and St. George and the dragon. The coins were then passed from Allen to his long-time secretary and personal assistant, Fairlie Hopkin.

After Hopkin’s death at the age of 99 in April 2015, this set is going to hit the markets for the first time and carries an estimate value between $4,308 and $7,179.
