Chola was one of the powerful dynasties in South India ruling over a long period of time. Their coins are the amazing artefacts of study. Some of the Chola coins depict the Chola victory over the Pandya and Chera by representing their dynastic emblem fish and bow respectively.The Tiger or Jumping Tiger was the royal emblem of the Cholas which we also see on their coins. But there are Chola coins on which we also see a lion!
The give Gold fanam weighs around 0.43 grams. It is a uniface coin and depicts a crude lion curled up with a fish at the top. It got sold for INR 6,600 at the Todywalla Auction on 29th July 2017.
