2017-07-24 Mon
Special edition Beatrix Potter 50 pence coins have become extremely popular among collectors. Some are even ready to pay £400 for these coins on eBay. Though the Peter Rabbit coin is more popular, the Jemima Puddleduck 50p coin has been declared the rarest after the Squirrel Nutkin coin. Collectors find it difficult to complete a set when a particular coin in a series has a lower mintage value.Designed by Emma Noble, the series of coins were released to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of famous children's author Beatrix Potter, who gave life to the famous characters Peter Rabbit and his friends. The detailing on the coins is impressive and fans are dying to own one of these coins.
Approximately 15,000 'brilliant uncirculated' coins in gift packs along with other animals in the Beatrix Potter series were released. Some of these coins are also rendered in colour; which are even rarer. These coins are being sold for 40 times its face value. Experts believe that these coins will soon go out of circulation since people would want to keep it with them.
