2017-07-21 Fri
The round pounds of England which have been in circulation for 33 long years will no longer be legal tender from 15th October onwards. People are being encouraged to spend these coins as there have been reports that out of the total coins in circulation only 800 million have been returned and exchanged. The latest 12-sided pound coin was released in March and with that began the process of replacing the old round pounds. There have been reports that one out of every 30 round pounds is fake. The new coin comes with high-end security features to curb counterfeiting activities. The Treasury stated that the new pounds in circulation will exceed that of the old ones in July.
