Palestinian Man Caught While Smuggling rare, Ancient Coins of Alexander the Great

A Palestinian man was caught trying to smuggle four rare 2,300-yearl-old coins issued by Alexander the Great. The man tried to enter Israel through the Erez crossing. Sources have said that the coins were smuggled from Egypt into the Gaza Strip and the man was probably trying to sell them in Israel.The coins feature Herakles on the obverse and a seated Zeus holding a sceptre and eagle on the reverse side. Officials say that the coins could be worth thousands of dollars. The coins are being examined by Israel Antiquities Authority and the suspect was detained for questioning.
