Georgia will be releasing its latest 5-lari note on 1st September. The obverse of the brown coloured note has a big new portrait of the Georgian scientist Ivane Javakhishvili. Other texts include his name in Georgian characters and “1876-1940”. A building named after him at Tbilisi State University is featured in the background. The denomination and texts are in both Georgian and English. The serial number has two Roman letters and eight Arabic numerals.
The reverse features the Georgian coat of arms, a painting called Threshing by the Georgian painter Niko Pirosmani (Pirosmanashvili) and a portion of another painting called “A Fisherman in Red Shirt” by Niko Pirosmani. The note also has 10 security features.
