Special coloured 31.107 grams Reverse Proof .9999 fine silver dollar featuring ghost-hunting fictional scientists played by actors Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis from the 1984 movie Ghostbusters was released by Perth Mint for Tuvalu islands. The coin is the first in a series of coins from the Mint.

Ghostbusters is very popular supernatural and science fiction comedy film that talks about Paranormal Studies Department of Columbia University in New York. Three scientists were fired from this department because of their not-so-fruitful work. They start their own business in this field and call it “Ghostbusters.” They start a shop in an abandoned firehouse in New York and convert a Cadillac ambulance into the Ectomobile. The story has many more interesting twists and turns.

The reverse features the three characters with New York City in the background and a green coloured sky. It also has the “No Ghosts” logo and the text GHOSTBUSTERS. The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

The coin has a mintage limit of 5,000 pieces and each one costs $74.95.
