Nigeria is located on the west coast of Africa in the Gulf of Guinea. It is very rare to find some of the modern stamps of Nigeria as they are not generally marketed well. You will find many which are readily available but the others are rarely found in kiloware or are found out of the country accidentally.

A set of definitive stamps featuring various aspects of Nigerian culture and history were issued in 2009. The series was not promoted in a full-hearted manner until 2011 when new stamps were added to the set regularly.

Most of these stamps are not valued in mint or used condition. Three 50-naira Lander Brothers Anchorage stamps with different design and production details are available. A fourth has now been reported, one of which was sold in an online auction for about $560. This new variety has a circular hologram on thick white paper while the denomination is in black. The orange “Nigeria” inscription is not fluorescent like the other types, and “NIPOST 2010” copyright inscription is also seen. It is reported that this type of stamp originated from a rural post office in southeastern Nigeria.
