Rs 500 With Inset Letter A Introduced

The RBI released a new batch of Rs 500 banknotes with inset letter A on Tuesday. The old E series notes will still remain valid. Just like the latest 500 rupee banknote design, inset letter “A” will appear on both the number panels, along with the sign of RBI Governor Urjit R Patel and year of printing '2017’ on the reverse. Other elements of the design would remain the same.The year of printing on 500 rupee notes with inset letter ‘E’ is 2016’ and Swachh Bharat Logo is printed on the reverse. The stone grey coloured banknote is 66mm x150mm in size and has an image of Red Fort with Indian flag on the reverse.
The banknote comes with intaglio printing of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, Ashoka Pillar emblem, bleed lines, circle with Rs 500, and the identification mark, all of which help the visually impaired identify the note’s denomination.
