Latest Bird Stamps of Norway

Two 20-krone stamps in the Birds definitive series were issued by Norway on 2nd January. One of them features the merlin and the other one shows the Eurasian hobby. Both these small birds are known for its quick flight and their skill of holding onto their prey in the air. The merlin is called the “lady hawk” because medieval Europe women used it in falconry.Different kinds of the Eurasian hobby are found in Europe, Asia, northern Africa and southeastern parts of Norway like Hedmark. St. Pierre and Miquelon introduced another stamp in its Birds series featuring the common yellowthroat. A pane of nine stamps was also issued by St. Martin depicting different birds.
