Takeshi Kitano, a Japanese comedian, television personality, director, author, actor and screenwriter was born on 18th January 1947. He rose to fame while performing with his comedian friend as “The Two Beat”. He left it soon and started performing solo, thus becoming one of the top 3 comedians of the country. He is popularly known by his stage name during The Two Beat- “Beat Takeshi”.

He soon embarked upon an acting career with Violent Cop (1989) and has a vast array of critically acclaimed films like “Fireworks” (1997), “Kikujiro” (1999), ”Hana-bi” etc to his credit. Since 1989, he has been a part of at least one film every year either as an actor, director, writer, etc. The success of Fireworks made him a leading figure in international cinema and he is one of the most versatile actors.
