Born on 11th September 1917 Ferdinand Marcos was the 10th President of Philippines from December 30th, 1965 - February 25th, 1986. He ruled the Philippines like a dictator. Despite being disliked in the general arena he later went on to become the 3rd Prime Minister of Philippines from 12th June 1978- 30th June 1981.

His regime is famous for both long term benefitting projects as well as extreme corruption and brutality. The “People Power” movement attempted to invade Marcos house and kill him and his family; he received warnings and fled from the Philippines and landed in Hawaii and hid in the US until his death. He died on 28th September 1989 after suffering from heart attack and kidney problems.

His burial at the “Cemetery of Heroes” in the Philippines with a 21 gun salute was criticized across the world as he is accused of torturing, abducting and killing thousands of opponents, as well as looting billions of dollars from the country. The people of Philippines took to twitter to criticize his burial ceremony with #MarcosNotAHero.
