S.S Breda is one of world most famous wreck of the Scotland!!!

This Ship was built in 1921 in Netherland. This Dutch Ship was a pride of sea till the incident of World War II which turned it into a wreck. On the 23rd Day of December 1940 it was straddled with bomb near the Oban Roads by the Bomber He-111 – a German bomber on its way to India from England.

This Ship was carrying at least thirty boxes of King George VI watermark paper which were uncut and blank and was made in sheet by Portals. These sheets were meant to transport at Nasik print press in India for printing; they were going to use these sheets for printing note of Denomination of Rupees five and ten.

This wreck of Ship was salvaged by Tralic Bay Diving Club in 1990’s. The Cargo of the ship was an interesting mixture of cements of Aircraft parts and engine rooms, propellers and bow areas which was removed by salvage in coming years. Few watermarked papers were recover, which are hard to find and are one of the rarest items of Notaphily.

S.S Breda is not the only ship to sink with Indian Banknotes there were other ships like S.S Camberwell, S.S.Shirala and S.S.Egypt which were sunk in sea during World War I and World War II and thus a treasure to cherish throughout the World.
