In ancient Greece, Ennodia is recognized as a Thessalian goddess connected to Roads, ghosts, Purification, Protection, and Cemeteries. Thessaly, a region in north-central Greece, was famous for its high-quality Horses, Cattle, and large agricultural output. Ennodia holds an important position in the LOCAL Pantheon, alongside other well-known goddesses like Hestia, Demeter, Aphrodite, Athena, and Themis. The main center of Ennodia's cult was the #City of Pherai, a powerful city-state in ancient Thessaly. It is believed that she was born in Pherai, where she served as the community's patron deity. Her worship was essential to Pheraean society, resulting in an establishment of a main sanctuary in her honor. Coins featuring her Image date back to the 4th Century BCE. The COIN featured here is a #Silver Stater minted between 369 BCE and 358 BCE, attributed to Alexander of Pherae. This coin, with a dia of 22.2 mm and a weight of 11.49 grams, features on its obverse the head of Ennodia, facing slightly to the right, adorned with a diadem and a grape-cluster earring. The reverse displays Alexander of Pherae, shown in a Thessalian helmet and cavalry gear, riding a charging horse to the right and holding a couched lance, with a double axe symbol below. On the left, there is a #Greek inscription A?-E-?A-N-[?POY] (Alexandrou) meaning ‘of Alexander.’
