Sher Shah Suri founded the Suri Sultanate in India after defeating Mughal Emperor Humayun in the Battle of Kannauj. He captured Delhi and Agra, establishing the rule of the Suri Dynasty.Sher Shah Suri was the first ruler to issue silver rupees as coins during his reign. He introduced a tri-metallic coinage system, which later became a defining feature of Mughal coinage. The term "rupiya," referring to a silver coin with a standard weight of 178 grains, was also introduced during his reign and served as a precursor to the modern rupee.
