Kabul was the capital of Babur before he occupied the throne in Delhi in AH 932. Mughal Emperor Akbar entrusted the throne of Kabul to his half-brother and the second son of Humayun, Hakim Mirza. Both Akbar and Hakim Mirza had multiple conflicts with each other, but eventually, they became allies. Later, when Hakim Mirza rebelled against Akbar and declared himself the independent ruler of Kabul, Akbar defeated him in battle and overthrew him from the throne of Kabul.

Akbar issued this Kabul mint silver Shahrukhi, weighing 4.57g, in the Hijri year 983. The coin has a counter-stamped "Adl Kabul 965" in a diamond-shaped cartouche on a Shaybanid ruler, Iskandar Bahadur Khan.
