On This Day in 1915, Sir Pherozshah Mehta also known as the ‘Lion of Bombay’ or the ‘Uncrowned King of Bombay’ breathed his last.He’s often credited with the social reforms and sanitation in the City of Bombay and even the foundation of ‘The Bombay Chronicle’ newspaper which became an important medium for the National voice in the Freedom Struggle.
His Statue stands tall in front of BMC Headquarters, respecting his vision and efforts for the city.
India Post issued a postage stamp in 1996, commemorating the ‘Ferocious Mehta’ who envisioned Indians in Politics and attaining Complete Independence.
