Muhi Al-Din Muhammad, commonly known as Aurangzeb, was the sixth Mughal Emperor who ruled from 1658 CE until he died in 1707 CE.

During Aurangzeb's reign, his coins bore his name and title. Later, he introduced two different couplets on his coins: the 'Mihir-e-Munir couplet' on the gold mohurs and the 'Badr-e-Munir couplet' on the silver rupee.

Silver Rupee issued by Aurangzeb weighs between 11.2-11.5g. The obverse is inscribed as ‘Sikka Zad Dar Jahan Chu Badr-e-munir, Badshah Aurangzeb Alamgir with AH 1111’. The reverse is inscribed as Julus Formula, RY 44, Itawa.
