Gold Double Kori of Princely State Nawanagar

Nawanagar was a Princely State during the British rule in India. Jam Shri Rawalji, a descendant of the Jadeja ruler of Kutch, founded this state in 1540 CE. The rulers of Nawanagar were always in a constant state of war with their neighbours and with the Mughal Empire. Nawanagar had signed the Instrument of Accession in 1948 AD after Indian Independence.

Jam Vibhaji issued this Gold Double Kori (6.42g) in the name of Gujarat Sultan Muzaffar Shah III. The obverse is inscribed as ‘Shri Jam in Devanagari, AH date’. The reverse is inscribed with the name and title of Gujarat Sultan’ Muzaffar Shah III’.
