Maratha Confederacy, silver rupee, 11.38g, Murtazabad (Miraj) mint sold for INR 5,60,000

The Patwardhans of Miraj minted one of the most spectacular Maratha coins, known as a "Ganapati-Pantapradhan rupee," to proclaim their loyalty towards Peshwa.The silver rupee of the Maratha Confederacy, Murtazabad (Miraj) mint was sold forINR 5,60,000, in an auction held on 23rd December 2023.
Patwardhan of Miraj issued a silver rupee to show their loyalty towards Peshwa. The obverse of this coin features the Devanagari legend, “Shri Ganapati” above the Persian legend date below. The reverse is inscribed as Devanagari legend “Sri Pantapradhan” above the usual Maimanat Manus formula, Mint name Murtazabad below.
