Gold Half-Tanka of Hammira Deva Chauhan

Agnivanshi Rajput Hammira Deva Chauhan was a direct descendant of Prithviraj Chauhan and the last ruler of the Chahmana dynasty, who ruled Ranthambore from 1282 to 1301 CE. He successfully defended his kingdom against Jalaluddin Khalji of the Delhi Sultanate. Hammira Deva issued this gold half tanka, 5.5g, to commemorate one of his victories. The obverse features the legend, ‘Raja Sri Jaita See Deva Pree in Devanagari ‘, and the reverse features the legend, 'Raja Sri Hamira Deva Karapitasa' (Vikram Samvat 14)43 in Devanagari.
