Commemorative Stamp of INAS 300

2023-01-07 Sat

The Indian government gave its approval for the establishment of a naval aviation wing in April 1965, and the Indian Navy went on to buy two squadrons of Hawkeye Seahawk aircraft, an aircraft carrier, and the former HMS Hercules for its air wing. INAS 300 was officially established on July 7, 1960, at the Royal Navy Air Station at Brawdy, under the command of Lt Cdr BR Acharya, with 23 Seahawks Mk6 aircraft and the aircraft carrier HMS Hercules.

The Indian Navy's revived White Tigers were a wholly professional unit by this point and performed admirably in combined exercises, frequent embarkations, Dissimilar Aircraft Combat Training, and Air to Air Training.

The White Tigers have established an excellent name for themselves and continue to be at the forefront of Indian Naval Aviation while always operating with basic tools and resources while producing amazing outcomes.

A commemorative postage stamp celebrating 50 years of the Indian Naval Air Squadron 300, stationed in Dabolim, Goa, was published by the Department of Posts.
