Remembering Rani Lakshmi Bai, the Queen of Jhansi

The Queen of Jhansi, popularly known as Rani Lakshmi Bai, is the best example of courage, fearlessness and bravery. She was the Queen of Maharaja Gangadhar Rao, the king of the Maratha Prince State of Jhansi between 1843 and 1858. Rani Lakshmibai was born on 19 November 1828 in the town of Varanasi to Moropant Tambe and Bhagirathi Sapre. She was named Manikarnika Tambe, and her nickname was Manu.Rani Lakshmi Bai was the leading figure in the First War of Indian Independence of 1857. She was a symbol of resistance to the British Raj for Indian nationalists. India's freedom struggle has seen many freedom fighters, and the name of Rani Laxmi stands out amongst them.
The Government of India issued her commemorative stamp in 1957 to commemorate her.
