The Bank of Lithuania released a special issue in June 2018 which commemorates Lithuanian midsummer celebration Jonines.

The holiday also known as Rasos is held just after the summer solstice. At this time of year, the smell of jasmine, colors of peonies and poplar blossoms are abundant, and the dew on the morning of the festival is said to have special powers for the mind and body. The holiday’s traditions include bonfire burning, wreath making and a hunt for a mythological blooming fern.

The reverse of the coin features symbols characteristic of the Lithuanian midsummer celebration Jonines: a blooming fern, the moon, the sun, and a greenery wreath that twists into a whirlwind, in the center of which is a ‘fern blossom’, as if peeking through a drop of dew. On the silver coin, a pad-printing technology was used to create the ‘fern blossom’.

The obverse of the coin features the coat of arms of Lithuania made up of stylised droplets of water. The coin also features the inscriptions the name of the country, the year of issue, denomination of 1.5 Euros and the mintmark of the Lithuanian Mint.
