Buland Darwaza on Commemorative Stamp

Buland Darwaza, also known as the "Door of Victory", is a stunning monument that signifies courage and victory. It was built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1575, to commemorate his victory over Gujarat. Buland Darwaza is a main enterace to Jama Masjid at Fatehpur Sikri, which is 43km, from Agra, India.It is the highest gateway in the world, and one of the best examples of Mughal architecture. It is made of red and buff sandstone and decorated by carving and inlaying of white and black marble. Inscription on the central face of Buland Darwaza throws light on Akbar's religious tolerance and broad-mindedness.
The Government of India issued this commemorative stamp in 2019 to commemorate this monument.
