Western Kshatrapas were the Indo-Scythian ruler; they ruled over Southern Pakistan and the central part of India between 35 CE and 405 CE. This dynasty ruled for about 350 years with nearly around 27 independent rulers.
Vijayasena was the ruler of the Western Kshatrapas dynasty. He ruled this dynasty between 239 CE and 251 CE. King Vijayasena took advantage of the weakness of the Pala dynasty, defeated the Pala dynasty captured the throne of Gauda. King Vijayasena extended his hold over the Vanga Kingdom in Southern Bengal.
This silver drachm was issued by King Vijayasena; during his rule in Western Kshatrapas. The obverse side of this coin depicts the bust of the king, and Pseudo-Greek legend around, and date behind the head. The reverse side of this coin depicts three arched hills, a river, a crescent in the centre, and Brahmi legend Rajno Mahakshatrapasa Damasenaputrasa Rajno Mahakshatrapasa Vijayasenasa.
