Shams Al-Din Muzaffar Shah III was the last sultan of the Gujarat Sultanate; he was the last sultan of the Muzaffarid Dynasty. He ruled Gujarat Sultanate from 1561 CE to 1573 CE. In the year 1573, Mughal Emperor Akbar annexed Gujarat Sultanate, prison Muzaffar Shah III and took him to Agra. In 1583 Muzaffar Shah III escape from Prison, and with the help of few nobles, he manages to regain his throne for a short period. Soon, he was defeated by Akbar’s general Abdul Rahim Khan-i-Khana in January 1584.
After defeating Muzaffar Shah III flew and took asylum under Jam Sataji of Nawanagar State. The Battle of Bhuchar Mori fought between the Mughal forces led by Mirza Aziz Koka and the combined Kathiawar forces in 1591 to protect him. Finally, in the year 1592 Muzaffar Shah III committed suicide in the year 1592when he was surrendered to the Mughal by the ruler of Cutch State.
