India is not only known for having the largest postal network in the world but also for the highest post office in the World. Located in small town of Hikkim – Himachal Pradesh, the highest post office in the world is situated at the height of 4400 metres i.e. 14,567 ft.The post office was established in November 1983 and since then Mr. Rinchon Chhering is the postmaster. The post office handles around 15-20 letters every day and around 50 people have a savings account in this post office.
The second highest post office in the world is also in the Indian state of Sikkim at Sherathang, approx. 13,600 ft. The third and fourth places are Mount Fuji with 12290 feet and Jungfraujoch in Switzerland with 11333 feet.
