Singapore’s beautiful native birds have been featured on special Proof half-ounce .999 fine silver 3,000-riel coloured coins for Cambodia, issued by Singapore Mint on 1st April. The 4-coin release was the second part of the ‘Discovery of Nature’ series.

This unique set of 4 coins, when placed together like a jigsaw puzzle, takes shape of a bird which is about to take flight. Cambodia and Singapore have always stressed on the importance of bird conservation, which is reflected in these coins.

The chestnut-bellied malkoha, the black-headed bulbul, the lesser green leafbird, and the grey-headed fish-eagle are the four birds that are featured on the coins along with a depiction of their natural habitat. All these birds are rarely found today in any other part of the world.

3,000 sets have been released which cost Singapore $300 each.
