Spreading Awareness through a Stamp!
2016-12-20 Tue
Some kids are born with disabilities which are not accepted in the society. More than the medical treatment they need care and affection which we fail to give them.In order to create awareness, US post issued a stamp on 12th October 1974 which depicts a girl holding a hand. It has a face value of 10 cents which says ‘Retarded Children can be Helped’.
The National Association for Retarded Citizens (NARC) was founded in 1950 to promote the welfare of mentally challenged persons of all ages and to prevent mental retardation. NARC played a major role in the passage of legislation concerned with developmental disabilities.
Down syndrome is one major disorder which is still fatal in India. Every year between 23,000 and 29,000 children are born in India with Down syndrome, which is the highest in the world. Many Indian parents feel awkward to introduce their kid having Down syndrome to their relatives. Is it a shame having it? Of course no…The Indian Parents have to be educated about this. Love your child as you would to any other.
Since we have come up with this topic let’s pledge that we will not judge anybody due to their Physical disability or Mental Disability. Together we can Help this World to make it more Beautiful!
Stay Happy and Respect others!
