Caribou on Canadian Coin

The Royal Canadian Mint recently issued a one-ounce 99.99% pure silver coin dedicated to the caribou. The animal is featured in its natural habitat of Canada’s boreal forest.br>
The reverse depicts a woodland caribou walking on a sandy lakeshore leaving its trail of footprints behind. A still lake and trees also appear in the background. Other inscriptions include CANADA, 2017, 20 DOLLARS and the artist Claudio D’Angelo’s initials CD. Obverses feature the common portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt along with the inscriptions of ELIZABETH II and D G REGINA. Precision engraving and many finishing techniques were used to create this coin.
