Remembering our Lok Nayak
2016-10-08 Sat
Lok Nayak (The People's Hero) was born on 11 October 1902 in Bihar. He is one and only our favourite leader Jayaprakash Narayan.Because of his charismatic personality, he aroused as a great political leader and in 1970’s, he stood against Indira Gandhi.
Seeing the condition of the Bihar in 1974, he asked for “Total Revolution”. This great leader passed away on 8th October 1979 due to heart disease and diabetes.
In order to celebrate the Birth Anniversary, the India Post issued a commemorative stamp of 35 paisa on 8-10-1980 with depicting the portrait of Jayaprakash Narayan.
Another beautiful multi-coloured INR 4 commemorative stamp was issued to celebrate his 100th birth anniversary on 11-10-2001.
It depicts the bust of Jayaprakash Narayan with his signature. There is a beautiful theme behind him which has a rising sun, charkha, book and a pen, wheat and farmers. Maybe this is the depiction of the “Total Revolution”.
This beautiful soul is still alive in our heart!
