According to some media reports, the Government of India is planning to issue a 550 Rupees commemorative coin to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Born on 29th November 1469, Guru Nanak Dev founded Sikhism and became the 1st of the 10 Sikh Gurus. As per the reports, the reverse side of this 35 grams coin will possibly depict an image of "Gurudwara Shri Ber Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi, Punjab" along with the inscription "550th Prakash Utsav of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji" in Hindi & English on the upper and lower periphery. Year dates 1469 and 2019 will probably mark the 550th anniversary of the revered guru. Reports suggest that the obverse side will feature the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar along with the inscriptions “Satyameva Jayate”, “Bharat” in Devanagari, and 'India'.
