50 Pence Peter Rabbit Coin Now Sold at £20

To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Beatrix Potter who delighted children worldwide with her animal tales, a special 50 pence commemorative Peter Rabbit coin was released over the Easter weekend at The Lake District, where Ms Potter used to spend her holidays when she was young.The Peter Rabbit Coin featuring the most loved character “Peter Rabbit” on the reverse side have become so popular that they are being sold for over 40 times its face value. The 50 pence Peter Rabbit coin is being sold at £20 on Ebay.
The Royal Mint has also produced a number of special edition Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit coins which have colour depictions of other Beatrix Potter creations, including Jemima Puddle–Duck, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle and Squirrel Nutkin. These coins though will not be released into general circulation. These coins are being sold at £55 by the Royal Mint but are reaching over £500 on Ebay.
Apart from these coins, gold and silver 50p pieces have also been made in tribute to the legendary author.
